Photography Fundamentals — DSLR & Mirrorless
Take your camera off Auto for good. Master aperture, shutter, ISO, and composition through hands-on shoots in your own city. End the course with a 10-photo portfolio you'd publish.
About this course
Most DSLR/mirrorless owners use 5% of their camera's potential because Auto is comfortable. We change that. Six live sessions plus self-driven shoots in between. We work through the exposure triangle, focus modes, lens choice, light reading, and composition rules (and when to break them). Half the learning happens in your weekly shooting assignment — Cairo street, Alexandria coast, your living room with a single lamp — followed by a group critique that's honest but supportive. By the end you have 10 portfolio photos you'd actually publish.
What you'll cover
- 1
The exposure triangle without the textbook
Aperture, shutter, ISO. Why each one matters. The mental shortcut for setting exposure fast.
- 2
Focus modes and depth of field
Single, continuous, manual. Back-button focus. The bokeh you actually want.
- 3
Composition — rules and when to break them
Thirds, leading lines, framing. The 5 mistakes every beginner makes.
- 4
Reading light — natural and ambient
Golden hour, blue hour, harsh midday. Direction. Quality. Color.
- 5
Lightroom basics — develop, not destroy
RAW vs JPEG. Exposure, shadows, highlights, color. Presets that aren't a crutch.
- 6
Building your 10-photo portfolio
Selecting from 1000 shots. Sequencing. The Instagram grid that reads as a body of work.
Who it's for
Hobbyists who bought a camera that mostly stays in the bag, parents wanting better family photos, and aspiring social-media creators stepping up from phone-only.
