Accounting Fundamentals + IFRS for MENA Professionals

Read financial statements, close month-end, and apply the IFRS standards that MENA's Big 4 audit firms test on. Practical, exam-aware, and built for accounting majors and finance-curious professionals.

About this course

Accounting in MENA is at an inflection point — IFRS adoption is now the standard at listed companies in Egypt, Saudi, and the UAE, and Big 4 audit (Deloitte, EY, PwC, KPMG) hires more grads and lateral movers than any single sector. This course builds a working accountant from the ground up: the accounting equation, journal entries, financial statements, the month-end close, and the 8 IFRS standards that come up the most in real audits and exams (IFRS 9, 15, 16; IAS 1, 2, 16, 36, 37). Every concept paired with a real-world example.

What you'll cover

  • 1

The accounting equation and the language of business

Assets = Liabilities + Equity. Why every transaction has two sides. The chart of accounts.

  • 2

    Journal entries to financial statements

Record, post, trial balance, adjusting entries, financial statements. The full month-end loop.

  • 3

Reading the income statement and balance sheet

What every line means. The ratios that signal health. Reading like an investor.

  • 4

IFRS 15: revenue recognition the right way

The 5-step model. Subscription businesses, construction contracts, e-commerce.

  • 5

IFRS 16: leases on the balance sheet

Right-of-use assets. Lease liabilities. Why every retailer's balance sheet got bigger.

  • 6

    Inventory, fixed assets, depreciation, impairment

IAS 2, 16, 36. FIFO vs weighted average. Useful lives and impairment indicators.

  • 7

    Provisions, contingencies, and audit prep

IAS 37. The audit working papers. What Big 4 actually checks first.
